Welcome back to making an application for your domestic commercial vessel registration. We are now looking at your certificate of operation.
So you’ve gone through the process of applying for your domestic commercial vessel registration, under the Exemption 02, non-survey vessel. The next part of that, once you’ve got your unique identifier, is to apply for a certificate of operation.
The form is AMSA form 504.
Now this is where the AMSA will give you some special conditions in relation to the operation of your vessel, like how many people are allowed to take on your vessel and the areas of operation. For example, you might be registered to a Class D or E waters.
Make sure you apply for the correct waters that you’re going to be operating in. And your eligibility criteria, as you can see on the screen, I’m just scrolling through here, you’ll see the unique vessel identifier, which you’ll get when you apply for your DCV.
You can complete the form online or you can print the document out and send it to this address here. The fee for the certificate of operation is $214, and you access the form by selecting application for a certificate of operation, at the bottom of this page.
That will run you through to the “Form Guide” and it’s basically follow the bouncing ball until you get to the end. Pay your money and AMSA will assess your application and forward you your certificate of operation.
